BackgroundThe discordance between the macrocirculation and microcirculation in septic shock has been recognised but never explained. I present a novel mathematical hypothesis as to how heterogenous microcirculatory flow distribution directly induces a hyperdynamic circulation and how elevated central venous pressure induces microcirculatory dysfunction.
