AimTo study the saliva content and correlation with the intensity of caries of proinflammatory cytokines IL-1{beta}, IL-6, IL-8 and anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-4 and IL-10. Methodology33 patients aged 18 to 30 years were divided into 3 groups - a group of patients without caries, a group with compensated caries at the index value the intensity of caries of the DMF (decay/ missing/ filled) is less than 5.0 and the group with decompensated caries with a DMF index value of more than 5.0. ResultsIt was found that both compensated and decompensated caries statistically significantly reduced the concentration of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-4. With compensated caries, a significant decrease in the content of pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-8 had a direct positive correlation with the concentration of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 in saliva. The DMF index was in negative correlation with the concentration of IL-6 in saliva. With decompensated caries, there was a significant increase in the content of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-1{beta} in saliva, which exceeded the same indicator in other groups by 3 or more times. ConclusionThe concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-8 in saliva had a pronounced postitive correlation with the concentration of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10.

Background and aimthe saliva content and correlation with the intensity of caries of proinflammatory cytokines IL-1{beta}, IL-6, IL-8 and anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-4 and IL-10 were studied in patients with FED after long-term orthodontic treatment. Materials and methods26 patients aged 18 to 30 years were divided into three groups: a group of patients without caries, a group with compensated caries with a caries intensity index (DMF decayed, missing, filled) value of less than 5.0 and a group with decompensated caries with a caries intensity index value of more than 5.0. Resultsbased on the results obtained, it was found that patients with FED have violations both in the system of nonspecific and specific local immunity, which is more pronounced in patients with decompensated caries. The essential role of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-6 was noted, the content of which in saliva significantly prevails in patients with decompensated caries. Conclusionthe study of the correlation relationships of the studied cytokines allowed us to determine the significant role of IL-6 and IL-4 cytokines and their ratios in the pathogenesis of FED.

This study aims to investigate the distribution of microbial taxa that are present in abundance in the oral cavity of patients diagnosed with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC). We begin with a search for relevant literature on the OSCC microbiome in electronic databases (PubMed and Google Scholar). From the identified literature, studies were considered for data extraction based on an inclusion criteria according to PRISMA guidelines. From an initial 1217 published studies, a total of 15 relevant studies were identified that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. These studies were conducted for the detection of microbial taxa in the oral cavities of patients with OSCC by correlation with healthy controls for differential microbial abundance. The data from the selected studies provided evidence on microbial taxa in different anatomical sites of the oral cavity i.e. gingival region, tongue, buccal site and floor of the mouth. The most common method for the detection of microbial flora in the literature was 16s rRNA sequencing. Only those studies from the literature were considered for further analysis that showed the association of risk factors i.e. tobacco smoking and smokeless, betel quid, alcohol and periodontitis with OSCC. Risk factors in the resulting 6 studies showed a strong odds ratio (OR) with statistical significance (p-value <0.05). The calculated risk ratio (RR) of these risk factors also demonstrated substantial heterogeneity. These studies showed an increase in the abundance of periodontopathogens belonging to the genus Fusobacterium, Capnocytophaga, Prevotella, Parvimonas and Porphyromonas. The microbial taxa associated in abundance with risk factors of OSCC such as smoked or smokeless tobacco, betel quid and alcohol were quite similar to the microbial taxa that cause periodontitis. The detection for abundance of periodontopathogens in OSCC a class of putative biomarkers at early stages of tumor development in OSCC, in individuals exposed to these risk factors.

Aim & ObjectivesThe aim of the present study is to evaluate the regeneration efficacy of rhEGF impregnated in collagen membrane for the management of Millers class I & class II gingival recession defects. Patients and methods18 patients with 30 Millers class I & class II gingival recession defects were treated with one of the following interventions and randomly allocated into each of the following experimental groups; Test group: rhEGF impregnated in collagen membrane, Control group: plain collagen membrane. Clinical measurements at baseline, 3 months and 6 months included decreased probing depth, recession depth and increase in width of keratinized gingiva. ResultsThere was an improvement in tissue biotype in test group and statistically significant increase in KGW from baseline to 3 months which remained constant from 3 months to 6 months(p[&le;]0.001) in both the groups. Similarly, RD shows constant increase from baseline to 6 months in test group whereas there is reduction in control group (p[&le;]0.003). There was significant difference in clinical parameters in both test and control groups. All the patients had an uneventful healing phase. ConclusionThe beneficial effects of rhEGF resulted in healthy wound healing process with less scarring offers more potential properties showed promising results over collagen membrane. Further larger samples are required to confirm the efficacy of rhEGF in root coverage for soft tissue regeneration.

Characterization of Oral bacteriome dysbiosis in type 2 diabetic patients

We aimed to characterize the relationship of the oral microbiome with diabetes in Pakistan. Saliva samples were collected from diabetic patients (n = 49) and healthy individuals (n = 55). 16S metagenomics saliva was carried out by NGS technology. We observed that the phylum Firmicutes (p-value = 0.024 at 95% confidence interval) was significantly more abundant among diabetic patients than among the controls. We found that the abundance of phylum Actinobacteria did not significantly vary among both groups in contrast to a similar report from the USA (Long et al., 2017). On genus level, acidogenic bacteria Prevotella (p-value = 0.024) and Leptotrichia (p-value = 1.5 x 10-3); and aciduric bacteria Veillonella (p-value = 0.013) were found to be in higher abundance in diabetic patients. These bacteria are found in dental biofilm and involved in the metabolism of fermentable carbohydrates. Stratified analysis by gender revealed healthy and diabetic females to be more divergent. Abundance of Prevotella (p-value = 4.4 x 10-3) and Leptotrichia (p-value = 0.015) was significantly associated with male patients. A comparison of oral bacteriome between two groups revealed the dominance of acidogenic and aciduric bacteria in diabetics which suggested the involvement of these eubacteria in oral dysbacteriosis in diabetes mellitus.

Type 2 diabetes and its risk factors such as dyslipidemia and/or obesity enhance severe periodontitis with a poorly understood microbiome. Hence, the purpose of the present study was to describe and compare the subgingival microbiomes of Type 2 diabetes subjects classified by periodontal diseases, to determine the association between periodontal severity and metabolic condition. 71 DNA subgingival samples of 36 subjects were evaluated by Human Oral Microbiome Identification Microarray using 16S rRNA gene-probe. Blood chemistries were obtained to test hemoglobin, and serum lipid profile. Obesity classification was obtained by Body-Mass-Index. Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney, Spearmans correlation, and Multivariate ordinal logistic-regression (periodontal-severity) test were applied (IBM-SPSS-21/Stata 17). Our results suggest samples of subjects with Gingivitis (n=12) presented with higher Bacteroidetes proportion vs. Generalized Periodontitis grouped by severity Stage-I (n=17, NS), Stage-II (n=30, p<0.05), and Stage-III (n=12, p<0.05); and Generalized Periodontitis Stage-II presented higher Firmicutes proportion (p<0.05_MW_vs._Gingivitis). Human-Microbial-Taxon presented significant higher Score-levels (Levels), frequency (%), or Odds Ratio (OR) of *1Cardiobacterium valvarum_HMT-540, Fusobacterium Cluster-AE01 (Generalized Periodontitis-Stage-I vs. Gingivitis_p<0.001_Levels, OR: 9.1 and 4.7), *2Porphyromonas gingivalis HMT-619 (OR: 4.7), Porphyromonas pasteri_HMT-279 (Gingivitis vs. Generalized Periodontitis-Stage-I and II_p<0.01/p<0.001_Levels), *3Streptococcus constellatus_HMT-576/Streptococcus intermedius_HMT-644 (Generalized Periodontitis-Stages-II, III vs. Gingivitis_p<0.05_%), and {dagger}Saccharibacteria (TM7)[G-1]_bacterium_HMT-347,350_Gingivitis_p<0.05_Levels), some of the Human-Microbial-Taxon identified, presented correlation with total triglycerides ([&ge;]150mg/dl, 0.521), total lipids ([&ge;]800mg/dl, {dagger}0.478), and obesity (*10.279, *20.280, *30.312). The microbiome of Type 2 diabetes subjects with gingivitis presented the classical microbial profile with representative pathogenic species, while the Generalized Periodontitis Stage I-II subjects presented a microbiome with representative putative and saccharolytic species, some of them strongly associated with the poor control of lipid profile or obesity, and to periodontal-severity.

Aim & ObjectivesThe aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of Stevia rebaudiana bertoni on GCF glucose levels and GCF bio-markers in diabetic patients with periodontitis. Patients and methods19 subjects were participated in the study. Randomly, a quadrant was allotted as test site for placing Stevia gel and other quadrant was allotted as a control site for placing placebo in the gingival sulcus having PD[&ge;] 5mm after performing thorough scaling and root planing. GCF samples was collected using sterile paper strips at baseline i.e., after scaling and root planing, 3 months and 6 months using intra-crevicular superficial method. GCF samples was eluted from the strips by placing them in Eppendorf(R) tubes that contained 500 micro-litre of buffer and will be stored at -80 until analysis was done. The levels of GCF glucose and GCF bio-markers was evaluated by using commercially available ELISA kit. ResultsStevia gel was effective in decreasing the GCF glucose and increasing ghrelin levels in diabetic patients with periodontitis. There was significant difference in clinical parameters in both test and control groups. ConclusionThis study concluded that application of Stevia gel in gingival crevice may be of value in controlling diabetes and periodontitis at a time.

ObjectiveThe successful application of composite resin restoration largely depends on their color stability, and discoloration is still a problem in composite resin restorations due to the desired instability. Chlorhexidine is one of the most widely used mouthwashes. The most important side effect of chlorhexidine is tooth discoloration. Since there has been no study on the effect of chlorhexidine application on microhybrid, nan and packable composites, the present study will be performed by spectrophotometric laboratory method to measure the staining of these composites due to contact with 0.2% chlorhexidine. Materials and MethodsNano filler, Packable and Micro hybrid composites are choose for our study for testing 35 samples of each composite were prepared in 2 mm in 1 cm disks. and then all three groups (n=105 samples) are exposed to 0.2% chlorhexidine for one minute every day for 2 weeks. Finally, discoloration will be investigated in each group. ResultsCHX provided the significant color change in all of the 3 type of composite groups (P<0.05). Data analyses are seen in the table one two and three. Between 3 type of composite z350 micro hybrid has a best color stability and nanofiller z350 is more prone to discoloration in comparison of Packable P60. ConclusionAccording to the results of the present study and related limitations, it can be concluded that micro hybrid composite is the best type of composite in tooth restoration of people who have to use chlorhexidine for a long time.

The study explores the polymicrobial nature of primary endodontic infections using Illumina Next Generation Sequencing. Samples involved in research have been collected from root canals of the patients suffering from pulp and periapical inflammations with no history of endodontic interventions on affected teeth. The study revealed prevalence of different bacterial phyla, classes, orders, and species. Further work will show potential correlations between individual microbiotas and clinical diagnosis.

ObjectiveChronic periodontitis has been proposed to be linked to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the basis of its inflammation mechanism. We aimed to evaluate this association by investigating the expression of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme-2 (ACE2) in periodontal compartments, which contain dysbiosis-associated pathogenic bacteria, and how it can be directly or indirectly involved in exacerbating inflammation in periodontal tissue. Material and MethodsThis observational clinical study included 23 adult hospitalized patients admitted to Universitas Indonesia Hospital with PCR-confirmed COVID-19, while 6 non-COVID-19 participants come to periodontal clinic were included as control. Using real time-PCR (qPCR) and gingival crevicular fluids (GCF) samples from COVID-19 patients with and without diabetes and periodontitis, we assessed the mRNA expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), IL-6, IL-8, complement C3, and LL-37 as well as the relative proportion of Porphyromonas gingivalis, Fusobacterium nucleatum, and Veillonella parvula to represent the dysbiosis condition in periodontal microenvironment. All analyses were performed to determine their relationship. ResultsACE2 mRNA expression was detected in the GCF of periodontitis-COVID-19 patients with and without diabetes. However, only periodontitis-COVID-19 patients with diabetes showed a positive relationship between ACE2 expression and inflammatory conditions in the periodontal microenvironment. In addition, the interplay between pro-inflammatory cytokine (IL-6) and complement C3 could be used as a predictor of the severity of periodontal inflammation in COVID-19 patients with diabetes. ConclusionThe study data show that the SARS-CoV-2 entry gene is expressed in the GCF of patients with COVID-19, and its expression correlates with inflammatory markers.

AIMTo evaluate and compare the marginal bone loss and aesthetic outcomes of zirconia implants with titanium implants in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). MATERIAL AND METHODSElectronic [PubMed] and hand searches were performed to identify randomized controlled trials that were published between January 2008 to April 2020 which investigated and compared various outcomes between zirconia and titanium dental implants. Outcomes included assessment of marginal bone loss and aesthetics using spectrophotometric measurements. Meta-analysis was performed to estimate the above parameters among various studies. RESULTSA total of 58 articles were screened for titles and abstracts. Subsequently 8 articles were selected for data extraction and evaluation. Zirconia implants were investigated and compared to titanium implants for marginal bone loss [MBL]. Customized zirconia and titanium abutments seated over implants were analyzed for aesthetic outcomes using spectrophotometric method using CIE-Lab measurements. Meta-analysis estimated that zirconia implants exhibited marginal bone loss reduction of 0.179mm (95% CI, 0.02 to 0.33) and -0.242mm (95% CI, -4.026 to 3.542) in aesthetic measurements than titanium implants. CONCLUSIONSNo heterogeneity was observed among studies analyzed for marginal bone loss and significant differences were noticed between two groups. Noticeable heterogeneity was observed among studies assessing aesthetics using spectrophotometry and CIE-Lab measurements and results revealed no many significant differences between the two groups.

Abstract Objectives: There is an increasing evidence of immune mediated mechanism in the etiopathogenesis of Otitis Media prime middle ear inflammation prime. The aim of the present study was to determine the expression of important circulatory regulators of immunotolerance as biomarkers. Materials and Methods In this cross sectional study, a total of 44 OM patients and 37 controls were included. Blood plasma level of HB-EGF, IL-10, TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma, PD-L1 and VEGF-A were quantified using Human Magnetic Luminex assay. Results The study showed statistical significant differences in the levels of VEGF-A between OM patients with and without tympanic membrane perforations (p<0.05). Moreover, we found comparatively higher level of PD-L1 in OM patients than controls. However, the level of growth factor HB-EGF, is significantly higher in controls than the cases (p<0.05). There was also a correlation between the levels of HB-EGF and VEGF-A and the severity of the disease condition. Conclusions Role of inflammatory mediators and cytokines like PD-L1, IFNgamma, TNFalpha and IL-10in OM patients as a biomarkers are very minimal. VEFG-A have a significant role in the pathogenesis of OM.Further studies are required for better understanding of the role of these immunosuppressive mediators in the eitopathogenesis of OM.

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to compare the outcomes of using auto-transplanted tooth and flap for repairing sinus perforation after tooth extraction. The aim is to provide a new reference for selecting appropriate repair methods for maxillary sinus perforation. Methods and materialsThis study involved 19 patients with sinus perforation who underwent treatment at the Department of Oral Surgery, Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University, from March 2021 to September 2022. The study included two groups: a test group with 11 cases where perforation of the maxillary sinus mucosa greater than 5 mm was found during autologous tooth transplantation, and a control group with 8 cases where maxillary sinus mucosa perforation greater than 5 mm was found during tooth extraction. Clinical examination and radiographic examination were taken at 2 weeks, 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-surgery of two groups. The two-year survival probability of the AT group was assessed using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. ResultsThe success rate of the auto-transplantation (AT) group was 72.7% (8/11), while the success rate of the flap transfer (FT) group was 100%. Upon analysis, it was found that the survival probability of AT group was significantly lower when the gingival index(GI) score was 2 (51.8%), in comparison to when it was 0 or 1 (100%). ConclusionThe study findings demonstrated that the utilization of auto-transplanted teeth yielded a favorable outcome in restoring maxillary sinus perforation, suggesting its viability as a potential option.

IntroductionDiabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder leading to hyperglycemia, which causes various complications due to vasculopathy. Adequate dental rehabilitation including dental implants plays a key role in promoting the eating habits of diabetics and better metabolic control. AimWe performed a systematic literature review to investigate the effect of diabetes mellitus on the stabilization and osseointegration of dental implants. MethodsWe searched PubMed and Scopus until October 2021. We used the following inclusion criteria: (i) study population included diabetics type I or II, (ii) outcomes were the dental implant failure or resonance frequency analysis, (iii) studies that investigate the effect of diabetes mellitus on the stabilization and osseointegration of dental implants, (iv) studies that were published in English, (v) studies that were published in journals with peer review system, (vi) studies including humans and not animals, (vii) studies that compared diabetics with non-diabetics, and (ix) quantitative studies. ResultsTwenty-nine studies met the inclusion criteria. Regarding implant failure, four studies found statistically significant more frequent implant failure in diabetics, while five studies found that implant failure was more frequent in diabetics but was not statistically significant. In contrast, ten studies found that implant failure was more frequent in non-diabetics but was not statistically significant. In addition, seven studies found that all diabetics and non-diabetics retained their implant during the study. In six studies that performed the resonance frequency analysis, no statistically significant difference was found between diabetics and non-diabetics. In three studies, the mean value of the implant stability quotient increased statistically significant in non-diabetics, while in three studies the mean value of the implant stability quotient increased statistically significant in diabetics. ConclusionsThe results of this review suggest that implant failure is not higher for diabetics than for non-diabetics. Diabetics seem to be able to achieve a rate of dental implants survival like that of non-diabetics. With regards to the resonance frequency analysis, no difference is found between diabetics and non-diabetics.

Aim and ObjectivesThe study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of titanium inserts for interdental papilla reconstruction, comparing it with the Han and Takei technique using subepithelial connective tissue grafts. The objectives included assessing the black triangle height, papilla height and papilla presence index (PPI) at baseline, 1 month and 3 months postoperatively along with the evaluation of Early Wound Healing Score (EHS) during the first week of post operative healing period. Patients and MethodsThis single-blind randomized clinical trial included systemically healthy individuals aged 18-35 years with Nordland and Tarnows Class I-III papillary loss. A total of 18 participants were randomly assigned to either test group or control group. Clinical parameters were measured pre- and post-operatively at specified intervals. Both groups received standard presurgical care and postoperative follow-up. The surgical protocol for the test group involved titanium insert placement in the interdental bone, while the control group received a connective tissue graft using the Han and Takei method. ResultsBoth groups showed significant intragroup improvements in all parameters from baseline to 1 and 3 months (p<0.05). However, intergroup comparisons showed no significant differences at most time points, except at 3 months for PPI, where the control group showed significantly better results (p=0.04). EHS scores were not significant between the groups. ConclusionTitanium inserts and CTG both demonstrated clinical effectiveness in enhancing interdental papilla dimensions. These findings support the titanium insert as a viable, less invasive alternative, offering clinicians a practical option for esthetic papilla reconstruction.

IntroductionTo identify active journals, authors, institutions and hot topics in the field of Endodontics within the Twittersphere. MethodsOn December 23, 2019, the Altmetric database was searched using the titles of 11 endodontic journals. The bibliometric data of the top 5% of endodontic articles with the highest tweets number were extracted from the Web of Science and analyzed. ResultsOverall, 3,918 tweets (from 3,881 individual posts) related to endodontic articles from seven journals were identified, which were mostly from the U.S. The Journal of Endodontics received the most tweets. Systematic review and apical periodontitis were the most popular keywords. At the author level, Dummer PMH and Patel S and at institution level Kings College London and Cardiff University, had the largest number of popular articles in the Twittersphere. The number of tweets was not correlated with citations (r=0.007, P=0.929). No statistically significant differences were found between open access (n=41, Mean=11.19) and non-open access (n=136, Mean=9.38) articles regarding the number of tweets (P=0.648). ConclusionsIn the Twittersphere, the overall activity of endodontic journals and associations were low. They could be more active and increase their visibility and social impact by immediately sharing research outcomes and communicating with peers, practitioners, and patients.

BACKGROUNDTooth wear has multifactorial etiology & defined as non-self-reparable loss of hard tissue in the absence of dental caries or trauma. One of the valid aetiologies for pathological tooth wear is stress. During sports activity, athletes tend to clench their teeth involuntarily which results in tooth wear, especially in young sportspersons. Hence, we designed a study to evaluate and compare tooth wear among young sportspersons involved in individual and team sports. METHODSThe study population comprised 300 subjects and were divided into two groups, group 1 (150 individuals involved in individual sports activity) & group 2 (150 individuals involved in team sport activity) The Tooth wear index was assessed based on Smith & Knight scoring criteria (1984). RESULTS88.6% of study participants showed tooth wear in individual sports & 84% in team sports. Tooth wear was highest in the mandibular & maxillary central incisor of both individual & team sports individuals. CONCLUSIONWe found that both individual and team sports players showed tooth wear, especially in the incisal surface of mandibular & maxillary incisors, which might reflect the underlying stress or anxiety. This study is the first of its kind to evaluate and compare tooth wear among young sportspersons involved in individual and team sports in India.

PurposeOur aim in this study is to determine the benefits of serum lactate, albumin and base excess values in predicting prognosis and mortality in patients with sepsis or septic shock when evaluated together. MethodsWe performed a retrospective observational study. Included 217 patients admitted to Hacettepe University Hospital Adult Emergency Department, that were 18-year-old and more, and had 2 or more SOFA scores. We evaluated admission hour, 24. hour and 48. Hour lactate, albumin and base excess. We searched changes of the lactate, albumin and base excess values and calculate the hospital mortality and 90-days-mortality. ResultsDecrease in 0-24-48th hour albumin values increases the mortality of sepsis patients in our study. While 0-48th hour lactate values do not affect the hospital mortality, the increase in the 24th hour lactate value increases the hospital mortality. The increase in 0-48th hour lactate values increases the 90-day mortality. Changes of base excess values had no effect on hospital mortality and 90-day mortality. There was no effect of lactate, albumin and base excess values on mortality in patients with septic shock. When the mortality rates are analyzed according to the lactate clearance of patients with sepsis, hospital mortality increases only as 24-hours lactate clearance decreases. Alactic base excess has no effect on the mortality. While no significant AUC value was found for base excess in ROC analyzes; the AUC values of lactate and albumin are significant, but their sensivity is low since the AUC values found for lactate and albumin are below 0.70. In ROC analyzes for lactate clearance, the AUC value for 24-hour lactate clearance is significant, but the sensivity of the AUC value is low. The areas under the curve (AUC) were not statistically significant in the ROC analyzes for the alactic base excess. ConclusionsContrary to the literature, lactate, albumin and base excess were found to have low sensitivity in determining prognosis and mortality in our study. When factors that may affect serum lactate, albumin and base excesss (such as chronic liver diseases, chronic kidney diseases, metformin use) are excluded, the values of these biomarkers in determining mortality in sepsis and septic shock decrease.

BackgroundInferior alveolar nerve block is the most frequently used local anesthetic agent, administered to achieve regional anesthesia for root canal treatment, however, in cases of irreversible pulpitis, there may be anesthetic resistance. To overcome this issue, many conservative and invasive supplementary procedures are introduced to increase the efficacy of nerve block, including prophylactic use of orally administered NSAIDs. ObjectiveTo compare the effect of prophylactically administered Ketorolac and Diclofenac Potassium on the efficacy of inferior alveolar nerve block in patients presenting with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. MethodologyThis double-blind study included a total number of 130 patients with a diagnosis of symptomatic irreversible pulpitis which was confirmed with a cold test. Before initiating the treatment, the patients were asked to rate their pain on a VAS with pain divided into four categories, no pain, mild pain, moderate pain, and severe pain. 10 mg Ketorolac and 50 mg Diclofenac potassium were equally divided into two groups and 1 tablet of each was orally administered to patients 1 hour before initiating root canal treatment. IANB was given and a root canal procedure was initiated under full aseptic protocol. The pain score was recorded on VAS during endodontic access preparation and root canal instrumentation. Data was analyzed through cross-tabulation and the Chi-square test was applied. (P value = 0.05) ResultsThe comparison of prophylactically administered ketorolac and diclofenac potassium on the efficacy of inferior alveolar nerve block depicted the success rate was 64.6% in Ketorolac group as compared to 43.1% in Diclofenac potassium group. ConclusionOral premedication with NSAIDs can improve the efficacy of Inferior alveolar nerve block in a non-invasive manner with better results yielded with the use of orally administered Ketorolac as compared to Diclofenac Potassium.

BackgroundThe number of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasing worldwide. Due to the fact that at the age of 20 to 30 years, this autoimmune disease is very common; Investigating and identifying prognostic biomarkers in advanced IBD is very important; Because according to the identification of these biomarkers, patients who need early surgery can be nominated and undergo surgery without wasting time and treatment costs. In this study, with the aim of identifying effective biomarkers involved in the inflammatory part of extracellular matrix (ECM) in the early surgery of IBD, separately from Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis. MethodIn this study, we examined 50 patients in both patient groups as well as the normal group. The expression of the nominated genes MASP2, DKC1, HNF4A, and STAT3 was analyzed using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR) and relative quantification was determined using the 2-{Delta}{Delta}Ct method. ROC curve analysis was performed to compare IBD (UC & CD) and normal for the investigated genes. The correlation between adhesion molecule gene expression and immunophenotype was analyzed. Also we comprehensively analyzed the genetic alteration, prognostic value and gene regulatory networks using multiple databases. ResultThe obtained results showed that MASP2 and DKC1 genes were significantly expressed in advanced UC patients, as well as HNF4A and STAT3 in advanced CD patients. ConclusionIt can be stated that the biomarker panel MASP2, DKC1, HNF4A, and STAT3 related to them have a significant prognostic role in the candidates of IBD patients for early surgery.
