Ophiostomatalean fungi associated with bark beetles infesting Pinus koraiensis, including the description of Ceratocystiopsis fushunensis sp. nov. in China

Fungi of Ophiostomatales (Sordariomycetes, Ascomycota) always have a symbiotic relationship with bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytinae). In this study, we investigated the fungi associated with Cryphalus piceae and Hylastes sp in Fushun. Based on the four gene fragments of TUB, ITS, LSU, and TEF and morphological characteristics, 206 strains of Ophiostomatales were identified to be distributed in 21 taxa; these included an undescribed taxon. Here, we described it as Ceratocystiopsis fushunensis sp. nov. The results of this study provided valuable information on the relationship between fungi and bark beetles.
