The authors have withdrawn their manuscript owing to a misunderstanding about the nature of the time-dependent analysis conducted by Wolff Sagy et al. Specifically, in an exchange the authors clarified that they did not reset the time variable in their analysis of person-time among the vaccinated, but split the observation at the time of vaccination and introduced a time-dependent indicator of vaccination. The authors stand by the general point that observational studies of vaccination during an outbreak should be aware of the potential confounding effects of calendar time and immortal time bias. However, the authors do not wish this work to be cited as specific comment on the analysis of Wolff Sagy et al. If you have any questions, please contact the corresponding author.
