BackgroundLow levels of mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-CN) are a biomarker of mitochondrial dysfunction often induced by oxidative stress. Air pollution is a pervasive source of oxidative stress, but the association between air pollution exposure and mtDNA-CN is inconclusive.
