Translation, Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Measurement Properties of Three Implementation Measures FIM-AIM-IAM into Bangla

IntroductionThe valid measures of implementation outcomes like acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility are vital for bridging the evidence-practice gap in healthcare. However, instruments developed in one cultural context, such as the widely used AIM, IAM, and FIM, require rigorous validation before use in new settings. This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the Bangla versions of the AIM, IAM, and FIM for use in Bangladesh. MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted among 549 pregnant women in Bangladesh aged 18-45 years from October and November 2025 at Rajbari District Hospital, Rajbari, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Data were collected through a pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire that included socio-demographic information, and the FIM-AIM-IAM scale. Statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics and confirmatory factor analysis, was performed using R statistical software version 4.4.0. ResultItem-level analysis showed that the measurement items were normally distributed which suggested measurement of the same construct. The Bangla version of the FIM-AIM-IAM demonstrated excellent internal consistency (AIM: = 0.78, IAM: = 0.81, FIM: = 0.77). This version demonstrated strong construct validity, as confirmed by a confirmatory factor analysis that supports a unidimensional model with an excellent fit (CFI = 0.92, RMSEA = 0.04). The scales also demonstrated adequate convergent validity, with Average Variance Extracted (AVE) values of 0.51, 0.52, and 0.5 for FIM, AIM, and IAM, respectively. ConclusionThe Bangla version of the FIM-AIM-IAM was found to be a valid screening tool for facilitating high-quality implementation research in maternal and child health settings, ultimately supporting the evidence-based adoption and sustained implementation of interventions in Bangla-speaking settings.
