This Stage 1 Registered Report outlines the protocol for a feasibility study of EchoCue, a novel paradigm designed to assess cerebral visual impairment in children aged 2 to 6, through non-verbal response patterns. The paradigm minimises the reliance on verbal instruction or active cooperation, making it suitable for populations traditionally considered difficult to assess. The method pairs auditory and visual stimuli with the recording of reflexive responses, such as gaze shifts, blinks, and startle reactions, using an integrated infrared eye-tracking system. The primary objective of this study is to assess the feasibility of the data collection procedures and to generate robust estimates of effect sizes with 95% confidence intervals for the protocols core measures, in order to inform the design of a future large-scale confirmatory trial.
