Five yeast strains belonging to the genus Vishniacozyma Liu et al. were isolated from horsetail in Moscow region (Russia). By morphological and physiological properties, they are similar to the species V. carnescens, V. peneaus and V. victoriae but differ in mycocin-sensitivity profiles. These isolates represent two novel species, for which the names V. equsetis (type strain VKM Y-2979) and V. paraequisetis (type strain VKM Y-2980) are proposed.
